Producer and XL boss, Richard Russell, reveals new track ‘Close But Not Quite’ from forthcoming project Everything Is Recorded

Sampha and Obongjayar joined producer and XL boss, Richard Russell, on his Reprezent 107.3FM show in early March to reveal three tracks from upcoming project Everything Is Recorded. Now we’ve been given a closer listen.

Yesterday evening we were reacquainted with Richard Russell’s upcoming project Everything Is Recorded, as the track ‘Close But Not Quite’ featuring Sampha is MistaJam’s ‘Hottest Record In The World’ on BBC Radio 1. With the intent of forming a collaborative project which ‘transcends the individual,’ Everything Is Recorded is set to involve contributions from artists such as Brian Eno, Kamasi Washington, Syd, Damon Albarn, and Giggs to name a few.

Sampling Curtis Mayfield’s ‘The Makings of You,’ ‘Close But Not Quite’ presents beautiful and delicately minimal production combined with the honest and familiar vocals of Sampha. Check it out here and listen the Reprezent show below.

‘Close But Not Quite’ (at 53:58), ‘She Said’ (at 1:07:55), ‘Everything Is Recorded’ (at 1:13:51)
